Tim’s general law practice largely involves transactional work, with expertise in construction, real estate, general business and contract matters. He believes in practicing preventative law - correctly planning, negotiating, documenting and executing clients’ transactions and legal matters, to avoid future legal problems, stress, business disruptions, and needless costs. His clients include old-time businesses and startups, contractors and entrepreneurs, property owners and people who want to protect their assets for their heirs with trusts and related documents.
Tim graduated from the University of San Francisco with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Political Science. He graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. with a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree. Tim served on active duty in the U.S. Coast Guard, and in the Reserves for many years, and was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant Commander. He has been practicing law in California for over forty years, and has a “Distinguished Lawyer” rating from peers in Martindale Hubbell. In addition to his transactional work, he has successfully tried court trials, jury trials, and has represented clients in arbitrations and mediations. He has served on committees of the North Coast Builders Exchange and on the board of directors of the Redwood Empire Remodeling Association. He teaches five law and trade seminars for the North Coast Builders Exchange Contractors License Courses school, as well as contract law in the Construction Management Program at Sonoma State University. He also is very much involved with his undergraduate alma mater, USF, where he serves on the President’s Advisory Circle.
Tim particularly enjoys counseling business, construction and real estate clients on best industry practices and avoiding liability/litigation. He is always open to conversation, counsel, quick questions and completion of client requests involving business formations, demand letters, permitting questions, general business advice and estate planning.
Tim lives in Sonoma’s Valley of the Moon with his family. In his spare time, he likes to read short stories, poetry and history books, discuss politics, and attend live theater. He played hardball in a men’s senior baseball league for 20 years, and continues to root for the San Francisco Giants.
